Even for a bad ability, this is still pretty decent. Even then, it's an ability available to the rare Pos 1 Houndmaster, and having AoE damage to get last hits and the occasional crit can have its uses - and of course, it's an excellent ability to use against the Flesh. This is great early on in the game, but falls off pretty hard later, making it the Houndmaster's only particularly bad ability. This ability is probably the most fun of the Houndmaster, providing some small damage and a small bleed on the entire enemy team. Heals, in whatever form they come, have a very high value, and simply having it as an option on Houndmaster will let him fit into teams without healers, or make healers in the team better by giving them less allies to worry about. On it's own it's not too strong, but as part of Houndmaster's overall kit, it's just another tick in the box. A very straightforward heal for the self, it doesn't really do much else. In short, this ability is amazing and allows Houndmaster to eclipse Graverobber as the premier dodge character. This allows HM to become extremely hard to hit, and then extend that benefit to an ally when they need it the most. Dodge is generally weaker than Prot until it's stacked up, and then Dodge is often far better as it's not just avoiding damage but all the nasty stuff such as debuffs, DoTs, Stress and Crits that come with enemy attacks - as it happens, stacking Dodge is exactly what this ability does. Rather than provide PROT it provides dodge. His Guard is not as reliable as the MAA's, but instead serves as a panic button to help an ally in a pinch. Stress Recovery is extremely strong and valued in high difficulty play, and so having AoE stress heals is going to be very beneficial even if his other abilities weren't so great (but they are) HM's ability to Guard foes and high innate dodge means that Stun Amulet is a very synergistic trinket, and he also has Weighted Cudgel as another option.Ĭry Havoc is somewhat unreliable, but provides a source of Stress Recovery for allies. He has an excellent single-target stun, which also does decent damage and has a nice crit bonus. ![]() It removes a ton of Prot, making him a perfect combo with heroes that can abuse Marks, such as Bounty Hunter. This ability also cements the HM as the game's premier Beast-slayer hero, giving him a unique niche. With Doggy Biscuits, this attack hits super hard, giving him the damage output of a specialised combat class on a class that's chosen for utility. This attack also inflicts a small amount of bleed as a bonus, deals bonus damage against Beast enemies AND does bonus damage versus marked. ![]() Houndmaster's basic attack, Hound's Rush, can hit any enemy on the opposing team (which means the backrow), and can be used from every position except the very first row. His versatility is only really matched by the MAA, but even then the variety of abilites and options a Houndmaster has will eclipse everyone else. I have a few ideas for what may be some good things/series to discuss, but PM me or comment with any ideas about good topics for future discussion threads.Įven with the HP nerf, Houndmaster remains the jack of all trades, and master of most of them.
